The right start

Company founders Seth Jackson and Joel Quaal started Precision Waterjet Concepts in May 2002, with one 5-axis waterjet gantry and one 100 hp intensifier in a 2,500-square-foot building. From the start, they recycle hot water from the machinery to heat the building through an in-floor heating system.

The company grew its customer base, added production employees and in November 2004, moved to a building twice the size. In 2005, they added a HAAS-VF 5 vertical machining center and began a second production shift. The next year, Precision Waterjet Concepts added a second waterjet cutting system, this one a 2-axis quad head Jet Edge gantry with 150 hp intensifier, plus the company leased an additional 2,500-square-foot building for material storage. That same year, the company added delivery services for large volume customers.

In 2007, the company enhanced its services with a FARO portable CMM, a full-time CNC programmer and a third waterjet cutting system: PAR Systems 5-axis gantry with high accuracy wrist. Joe Glenn joined the company as a partner and CEO, and the company added a chiller system to reduce its water requirements: Heat generated by the chiller heats the building during the winter.
In March, 2008, Precision Waterjet Concepts broke ground for the company's now 19,000-square-foot facility on five acres of land near Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. The facility, completed in October, 2008, includes a 100' x 150' production area, utilities sized to support up to 10 waterjet machines, loading docks and a drive-through bay for delivery trucks.

The company continues to expand its customer base, broaden its participation at industry trade shows and other events. In August 2009, Precision Waterjet Concepts achieved ISO 9001:2008 quality certification. The company looks forward to continued growth in waterjet cutting services.
